<p>Today I just received my brand new Hoya RM72 Infra-red filter for my camera. I am quite excited to go out a shoot a few frames tomorrow. For those of you that do not know what Infra-Red can do here&#8217;s a quick overview.<br />

<ul>
<li>Infra-red is the wavelength of light beyond the red end of the spectrum.</li>
<li>Infra-Red cannot be perceived by human eyes.</li>
<li>Green trees and plants to look very bright (almost over exposed) since they reflect large amount of Infra-Red light.</li>
<li>Blue skies and water reflect minimal amounts of Infra-Red and look black.</li>
<li>Clouds tend to stand out very well.</li>
<li>It has the effect of cutting through fog and haze because they reflect very little Infra-Red (extremely useful for use spies).</li>
</ul>
<p>Infra-Red comes in many two main forms:</p>
<ul>
<li>&#8220;Near Infra-Red&#8221; (this is what we photograph) it is very close the red end of the spectrum around 720 nm.</li>
<li>&#8220;Far Infra-Red&#8221;, this is what people see in James Bond movies and captures body heat as well though this is not photographable with ordinary equipment.</li>
</ul>
<p>Once I start to take some pictures with my newly acquired filter I will post them to my gallery and add tips as I learn them.</p>
